To Be Honest I'm Not Into International Stuff! Davido says he prefers performing in African countries

Music star, Davido, says he is not interested in seeking international acceptance but only doing it as a pioneer of the movement.

The Atlanta born “OBO” crooner said he prefers to perform in Nigerian and its African counterparts than the “international stuff.”

The music star stated this in a recent interview with Pause UK magazine where he spoke on his debut into the industry, his career, future plans and how Africa is taking over the world.

He noted that while Africa can do 18,000 people per show, the UK, US can only do between 8,000 to 10,000 per show. Davido said,

“To be honest, me, I’m not into this international stuff but I’m really doing it because I’m one of those people pioneering this movement.

“I have to put a cape on my back and do it for the culture but I always prefer being at home.”

Davido also said he was one of the lucky ones that got a big break after his first music was released.

“I would say I was one of the lucky ones, the first time I ever recorded and dropped that got big, that was the first song I ever recorded, started blowing up, Davido said.”

He also said his music constantly clashed with his University education and multi-tasking was hard for him.

“At that time I was in university, I was only in school in Lagos, it was hard being in school, trying to do that at the same time it was hard.”

When asked how he how does one break into the mainstream market like himself, he said,

“Lucky for me I started when I was like 16, I’m 25 now so it’s been a while but now it’s like, everybody’s looking at Africa, everybody’s interested in whatever Africa’s doing, so it’s better now for us and easier for us to get stuff out there, they love the music too, it’s good music”.
