The father of the 8-year-old girl killed by Ifeanyi Dike, a 200-level-student of the University of Port Harcourt, has told of how his daughter was murdered.

Ernest Mezuoba, the father of the victim, described the suspect as his cousin and said they live on the same street - Messiah Street, Eliozu in Port Harcourt. While speaking to newsmen at the State Police Command on Saturday, Mr Mezuoba, from Ochiogwa in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, said Ifeanyi lured 8-year-old Victory Chikamso into his room, then raped and killed her. He was eventually caught by vigilante as he tried to dispose of the body. He said he struggled with the vigilante and even bit one of them on the thigh but they eventually overpowered and tied him then called the police. Ifeanyi was then arrested by the operatives of the Rivers State Police Command attached to Okporo Police Station

According to Mr Mezuoba, he left for work on Friday then returned home at about 3 p.m. to be informed that his daughter was missing. A search began immediately but when she still wasn't found, they reported to the police and were told to call back after 24 hours.

However, at around 1:30 a.m. some vigilantes came to tell him they had seen his daughter and asked him to follow them to see the suspect who kidnapped the girl. Mr. Mezuoba, rushed out in his shorts with the security men. He was told the suspect was caught carrying a sack at about 1:10 a.m and when he was confronted by security men, he said he wanted to take it to the dustbin but when they searched, human remains were found in it.

The father of the victim said he was shocked when he turned to look at the suspect and discovered who it was. He said he was devastated seeing his daughter's body and what had been done to it.

"When I looked (at) the sack, I said 'where's my daughter?' They showed me the sack bag. As I opened it, I saw my daughter. I peeped, I watched very well, the two eyes are off. The tongue is off. One of the breasts is off. The two fingers, the small one, is off. And if you watch at the center here ( he points to his forehead) he carved out here (the forehead). I start shouting, saying this is not ordinary. This boy decided to use my child for ritual," the father of the deceased told newsmen.
