A 35-year-old man, Ibrahim Muwange, suspected to be a notorious cattle rustler, kidnap kingpin and armed robber, has been arrested by the police in Katsina State.

Police authorities said Muwange of Duffar Mato Malamai village in the Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State, had been on their wanted list before his arrest at Dayi, in the Malumfashi Local Government Area of the state on Friday.

The spokesman for the state Police Command, SP Gambo Isah, who confirmed the arrest to Northern City News on Sunday, said Muwange was arrested while in possession of an AK-47 rifle.

Isah said, “On February 1, 2019, around 5pm, based on a tip-off, the command succeeded in arresting one Ibrahim Muwange, aged 35 years, of Duffar Mato Malamai village in the Danmusa LGA of Katsina state at Dayi, Malumfashi Local Government Area, Katsina State.

“The suspect had been on the wanted list of the command in connection with various cases of cattle rustling, kidnapping, culpable homicide and armed robbery in Danmusa, Malumfashi, Safana and Batsari Local Government Areas of Katsina State.

 “In the course of investigation one AK-47 rifle No. NH 9634 was recovered from him. The suspect has confessed to his crime.”

The state police command had last week paraded no fewer than 13 suspects alleged to be involved in various crime, including kidnapping, cattle rustling and armed robbery.

Also paraded along with the suspects was one Mohammed Kabir, 32, of Sabon Titin Kwado area of the state, who had eight different Automated Teller Machine cards in his possession that he was allegedly using to defraud unsuspecting bank customers.

Kabir was caught on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, within the premises of a first generation bank along the IBB Road, Katsina, following a tip-off.
