AS Results of Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections were being collated the senator representing Nasarawa North, Suleiman Adukue, yesterday, escaped assassination attempt in Lafia, the state capital.

The senator who was attacked at about 12.30 at a location in Lafia metropolis had his official vehicle smashed.

 I’ll banish any of you caught in electoral violence, monarch tells subjects According to the senator, youths suspected to be political thugs pounced on his vehicle with dangerous weapons such as irons, stones telling him to go to his local government that lafia belongs to Governor Al’Makura. Adukwe who claimed that the security operatives present at the scene of the incident could not come to his rescue, however, alleged that there was threat to his life in the state.

“There is threat to my life, I have reported the incident to the commissioner of police. I have also asked the CP to reinforce the security around me,  Adukwe declared. In a swift reaction, the state chairman of PDP, Francis Orogu described the attack on the senator as  politics on the threshold, adding ‘’that PDP will not join issues with APC, but we must defend our votes.” Amid the building tension, the Nasarawa state Governor, Umaru Tanko Almakura Sunday stormed the Abacha youths centre, the collation centre for Nasarawa South as the INEC adhoc staff were waiting to submit their results.
