BREAKING NEWS: Popular Actor Dies At 52

Kristoff St. John, the actor best-known for portraying Neil Winters on the CBS long-running daytime soap “The Young and the Restless,” has died. He was 52.

His attorney Mark Geragos confirmed the news to CNN.

The Daytime Emmy Awards account tweeted, “It is with unbelievable sadness that we say goodbye to our friend, #DaytimeEmmys winner @kristoffstjohn1. @YandR_CBS RIP.”

St. John received numerous awards, including nine Daytime Emmys, over the 25 years he worked on “The Young and the Restless.” His first major role on a soap opera was on NBC’s “Generations.” The show was canceled in 1991.

Born July 15, 1966 in New York City, St. John began working on the small screen at a young age. He played a young Alex Haley in the 1979 miniseries “Roots: The Next Generations,” and also appeared on the ABC sitcom “Happy Days.” St. John had a small role on “The Cosby Show” as Denise Huxtable’s boyfriend. Later, he worked on the 1985 CBS sitcom “Charlie & Co.”
