Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has admitted that he and former team-mate Patrick Vieira will drop their friendship for the duration of Wednesday’s Monaco v Nice Ligue 1 clash.

The pair face off against each other for the first time in their managerial careers after both took on roles during the summer.

As former team mates the pair won five titles together at Arsenal during the heyday of the Arsene Wenger era.

They also lifted the 1998 World Cup as France won their first ever tournament. Nevertheless, despite all this history, Henry has conceded that he will not like Vieira for “for a little bit” during the game.

“He is a friend of mine and he is a guy that I admire,” said Henry. “Not only for the player but also for the man, and the game will not change that, but it is Monaco versus Nice which is the most important thing, and for a little bit, we are not going to like each other.”

Monaco currently sit an unprecedented 19th in the French top division, having only won only three league games all season.

They are also out of the Champions League, after scoring only a single point during the six group stage matches.
