Six Feared Dead, Many Injured As Stampede Rocks APC Next Level Rally

The Next Level campaign of President Buhari has been hit by a tragedy. The campaign which constitutes holding rallies in the 36 states of Nigeria was yesterday held at Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

At the campaign venue, one of the pavilions collapsed and injured dozens of people during a stampede.

The stampede occurred when the people thronged to see the President as he mounted the podium to give his address.

The crowd had greeted him with chants of “Baba Oyoyo.” The atmosphere became uncontrollable and tense for the hundreds of security personnel who had to use the baton to push the crowd back.

Rescuers from the Red Cross moved many wounded people to the State Specialist Hospital in the capital for treatment while those who died were moved to a morgue.
