Lagos Political Atmosphere Becomes Tense As Rival Party Thugs Clash

The political atmosphere in Lagos State is becoming tense as the crucial general elections approach.

In view of the above, the residents of the Onilegogoro and Shitta areas of Surulere in Lagos witnessed confusion in the morning of Monday there was a serious eruption of violent clashes in the area.

The breakdown of peace and order was caused by a clash between thugs said to belong to rival political parties.

The gunshots were allegedly fired by some loyalists of an unnamed popular politician in the area Confusion ensued in the Surulere axis of Lagos state on Monday as residents of Onilegogoro and Shitta areas of the city were forced to witness a violent clash between youths suspected to belong to rival political parties.

The day which was said to have begun in serenity was distorted with the noise of gunshots allegedly fired by these suspected thugs clashing with some youths of rival political party loyal to a popular politician in the area.

Meanwhile, it was reported earlier that Lagos state police command said it arrested 21 suspected political thugs following the death of two suspected cultists at a political rally in Obanikoro area of the state.
