BREAKING NEWS: Ahmed Musa Confirms The Death Of His Mother

It’s a sad day for Super Eagles star Ahmed Musa following the passing of his mother, Sarah Moses, on Thursday. Musa’s mother died in a hospital in Abuja. Musa, who is currently in Nigeria is reportedly injured and has been ruled out of action for his club side Al Nassr of Saudi Arabia.

According to reports, Musa is in Nigeria to continue his recuperation from his injury and is aiming to join up with his team-mates before the end of February. However, the 26-year-old has started the year 2019, with some sad news as he from confirmed his mother has passed away in Abuja after intensive care.

The Nigerian striker took to his official Instagram account to post a picture of him and his mother with an emotional message as reports stated that she was in the hospital. He wrote, “I am sure being tucked in bed is not the best thing you know to do. All your children are waiting for you to get out of bed and say ‘I am back in action’. Get well soon Sweet Mum!” But that message, which he posted on Wednesday, was followed by another on Thursday – a blank photo he posted on his official Twitter account which contained a message confirming his mother’s demise.”What a sad day of my life,just lose my mum.”

Having missed out of the Nigeria squad to the 2010 FIFA World Cup aged just 17 due to an ankle injury, Musa has been one of the shining stars of the Nigerian national team in recent years, putting up stellar displays for the Super Eagles on the way to winning the Africa Cup of Nations title in 2013, as well as helping Nigeria qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, in which he scored two goals against Iceland in a group encounter and give the Super Eagles hope of making the second round, only to fall just short no thanks to a late goal conceded in Nigeria’s final group match against Argentina.

The 26-year-old recovered from that setback to help drive the Super Eagles to qualification for the 2019 AFCON which will hold in Egypt. The clearest reflection of his attacking talents arguably came at Brazil 2014, when he struck twice against Argentina – a team he will hope to reacquaint himself with in Saint Petersburg in last year’s World Cup. Having struggled for first team football since a move to Premier League side Leicester City from CSKA Moscow, he initially featured off the bench under Gernot Rohr but soon won back a place in the first team.
