Nigerien lands in prison for robbing Katsina housewife
A 24-year-old Nigerien, Pauzu Abdullahi, has been remanded in prison custody for robbing a housewife in Katsina.This followed his arraignment by the police at a Senior Magistrates’ Court in Katsina on Monday.
According to the police, Abdullahi, who hails from Zindar, Niger Republic, alongside five other accomplices now at large, invaded Bilkisu Danja’s residence at the Barhim Quarters and dispossessed her of electronics, including a plasma television and a laptop.
The accused also allegedly took away bundles of clothing materials, including lace and super wax, as well as various wedding gifts.
Bilkisu was allegedly locked up in one of the toilets in the house, while the operation lasted.
The victim’s husband reported the incident to the police and investigation led to Abdullahi’s arrest.
Upon his arrest, the victim identified the suspect as one of the gang members, who attacked her.
The police said Abdullahi confessed to committing the crime during interrogation.
The suspect also reportedly named one Aliyu, alias Yellow, of Kofar Soro area, and four others now at large as his accomplices.
Abdullahi was arraigned for criminal conspiracy and armed robbery, contrary to sections 6b and 1(2)(a)(b) of the Robbery and Firearms Special Provision Act, Cap R11, LFN, 2004.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Dani Ado, told the court that investigation into the case was still in progress.
The presiding magistrate, Hajiya Fadile Dikko, thereafter, adjourned the case till January 28, 2019, and ordered that Abdullahi should be remanded in prison custody.
