The passing on of the first democratic President of Nigeria, Shehu Shagari, is one tragedy ending 2018.

Since the news of his death and immediate burial in accordance with the Islamic religion  surfaced, many tributes have been made in honour of who some have described as an unsung hero.

In lieu of the tragedy, incumbent President, Muhammadu Buhari took to his Twitter page to pay his tributes. See below:

The reactions of Nigerians to this however is not favourable as any dredged up the history of how Shehu Shagari was ousted from office and placed in detention by Buhari.
