Fear Of More Attacks Makes Many Displaced Persons In Zamfara State To Leave The State To Seek Safety
The waves of attack on Zamfara communities by armed bandits have sent some of the displaced residents scampering for safety to to the extent of taking refuge in neighbouring Katsina State.
Consequently, about 1500 Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs from Tsafe Local government of the State are said to be taking refuge in Kankara Local government in Katsina State following series of bandit attacks on their communities.
The IDPs, who are mainly from Buku-Buke, Yartalata, Sabon Gari and Mandaba villages, are staying at Kankara central Primary school.
Already, officials of Katsina State Emergency Management Agency, according to its spokesman, Mohammed Umaru, have arrived to coordinate activities at the temporal camp.
It was earlier reported that the Tsafe council chairman, Aliyu Abubakar, in a chat with news men, said that 1700 persons have been Displaced in the last two weeks from his council.
He listed, Asaula, Kwadawa, Dogon Kawo, Mandaba, Yanza, Kulutu, Sakkya and Fegin Dakai, all in the eastern Tsafe, as the most affected villages.
Recall that the bandits have not relented in their attacks on innocent people in Zamfara State. This is because more people were attacked in the State yesterday leading to the death of five persons according to the State’s Command.
