A day after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in London, United Kingdom, Godswill Akpabio, the senator representing Akwa Ibom North-West constituency at the National Assembly, has held a meeting with Bola Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Akpabio, the Senate Minority leader and two-time former Governor of Akwa Ibom State on the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), met Buhari in London over the weekend, intensifying rumours of his plans to defect to the ruling party.

On Monday, he followed that up with a meeting with Tinubu in Abuja, which the APC has already confirmed held “ahead of his planned defection to the APC”.

“Update: Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio meets APC Leader, Bola Tinubu, in Abuja this afternoon,” the party tweeted.

“Both Men are in consultation a day after the PDP Senator met with President Buhari in London ahead of his planned defection to the APC.”
