Persons suspected to be ritual murderers have beheaded a woman in Imo State, while one of her breasts was also cut off.The incident happened in Mgbirichi community in the Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State on Monday, sending residents into a state of panic when the headless body was found lying somewhere near the Owerri/Port Harcourt Expressway.
PUNCH correspondent gathered that the woman, whose identity had yet to be ascertained, was murdered in the early hours of Monday.
A resident of the community who pleaded not to be mentioned told our correspondent that the beheaded woman was seen in the community on Sunday.
According to the resident, the community woke up on Monday morning to a disturbing sight of a woman who had been “beheaded, with one of her breasts also severed, lying on the road.”
He told our Correspondent that the villagers had alerted the police to the development.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Andrew Enwerem, who confirmed the killing, said that the Police had launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
