Blood Flows In Highway Multiple Accidents

Two separate road accidents reportedly occurred in Akoko area of Ondo state on Wednesday claiming one live.

The first carnage involved a bus and commercial motorcycle rider (Okada)around 9pm,who sustained head injury.

Eye witness said the victim was rushed to Ikare-Akoko Specialist Hospital by men of the Federal Road Safety Commission(FRSC) Ikare –Akoko.

The Medical Director,Dr Wale Oguntuase confirmed that a man was brought to hospital with serious head injury which was quickly referred to Federal Medical Centre(FMC) Owo.

The Unit Commander, FRSC,Ikare Akoko, Jimoh Basiru confirmed that his men carried him to FMC, Owo where he was confirmed dead.

The second accident involved an oil tanker which detoured while climbing the ‘deadly’ Okerigbo hill.

It took FRSC officials prompt intervention to supervise the off loading of the product to another trailer,while using a towing vehicle to remove the tanker from the busy highway.

Basiru warned motorists against night journey,saying it is too risky.

A spokesman of the community, Alhaji Ibrahim kilani urged Ondo state government to level up Okerigbo hill, Akungba Akoko like that of Oke-Alabojuto,Ikare Akoko where the government was doing a good job to reduce the dreadful hiIl.

Kilani also hailed the state government for the completion of flooded areas such as Jubilee,Victory College and Bishop’s Court-Ugbe Akoko road that are now motorable.
