Nigeria v Czech Republic: Super Eagles formation revealed
Super Eagles formation in today’s friendly match against Czech Republic has been revealed.
Gernot Rohr’s men will lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation as Nigerian coach refused to use the 3-5-2 formation which worked perfectly for the team in the second half of their 1-2 loss against England on Saturday.
The German coach is sticking with his trusted formation but changed the duo of Joel Obi and Ogenyi Onazi who were both ineffective in the first half against England, bringing in John Ogu and Wilfred Ndidi in their place.
The Israel-base Ogu will function as the deepest of the midfielders, while Ndidi will be ahead of him to provide cover for captain John Obi Mikel who will play just behind the main striker, Odion Ighalo.
Ndidi is played close to Mikel so that he can use his pace to stop counter attack threat if Mikel is caught high up the pitch.
Meanwhile the tactical position of Ogu is also as a shield for the central defence duo of William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun.
