Man jailed five years for defiling a 10-year-old girl in Ondo
An Ondo State High Court, sitting in Akure, the state capital, has sentenced a man, Thompson Ojo, to five years’ imprisonment for defiling a 10-year-old girl.
The convict was arrested and brought to the court for having carnal knowledge of the victim, who was said to be the daughter of his neighbour.
It was gathered that the incident happened on Bayode Street, Ijoka Road, Akure.
During the proceedings, the victim and her father were invited to the court and they testified against the convict.
A medical expert told the court that through examination, deep lacerations were discovered in the girl’s private parts, which indicated that there was a penetration.
The police witness, one Sergeant Olaniyi Ogunsusi, also tendered before the court the victim’s stained pants and the stained bedspread and pillowcase of the accused as evidence.
The judge, Justice William Olamide, while delivering his judgment, said the graphic testimony of the witnesses and the proximity between the victim’s family and the accused family showed that the accused was guilty of the charges.
He declared his actions as disgraceful of a parent and sentenced him to five years’ imprisonment.
