Barcelona have confirmed why two star players, Lionel Messi and Luis Saurez did not attend Andres Iniesta’s farewell press conference on Friday.
Iniesta bid farewell to Barcelona in an emotional press conference on Friday – but Messi and Suarez were not in attendance.
The 33-year-old announced he will leave Barcelona at the end of the season after 22 years at the club.
Barcelona players, including Gerard Pique and Philippe Coutinho, were present at the packed event inside the club’s training centre.
However, Barcelona said Messi and Saurez missed the big announcement due to, “personal reasons.”
The club also confirmed that Messi and Suarez will be present for Iniesta’s official farewell next month.
Iniesta, meanwhile, has indicated that he will move to the Chinese Super League at the end of the season.
