Popular American media personality and award-winning actress, Oprah Winfrey has opened on why she recently left money all over her hotel room.

American media mogul, talk show host, actress, and philanthropist, Oprah Winfrey, has said that she recently left money in various places throughout her hotel room to brighten a housekeeper's day.

While speaking with People Magazine, she said: "This made me so happy recently. People never leave money for the housekeepers in a hotel (and) I usually just leave the money on the pillow, but this time I put it all over the room: under the desk, on the counter with the M&Ms, in the shower. As I was leaving, I was like, 'Somebody is going to be happy today, yes!'"

Hotel guest etiquette generally dictates that tipping anywhere from $1-5 per night is sufficient, but it appears as if the 64-year-old media mogul, may have left behind a few extra bills.

Her generosity should come as no surprise to anyone familiar with her talk show past.

Her famous "favorite things" episode - a yearly Christmas time tradition that sent studio audiences home with dozens of lux and lavish items - and the well-known "everybody gets a car!" moment-turned-meme, have long-solidified her as a giving person.

"Nothing makes me happier than to see other people in their purest moments of joy," she said. "Sometimes, honest to goodness, I'm just sitting around thinking, 'What could I do to make somebody feel really good today?' To be able to do that for somebody, that's one of the great joys of my life."
