Police confirms officer’s death in Gov Ishaku’s convoy accident

Taraba State Police Command on Friday confirmed the death of its intelligence officer, Mr. Altam Enoch Dwachem, who died in the convoy accident of Governor Darius Ishaku on Thursday evening.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP David Misal had, on Thursday evening, confirmed the accident, but denied knowledge of any casualty.

Ishaku’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Bala Dan Abu, had denied, outright, that there was no accident involving the governor’s convoy when our correspondent called to confirm the incident.

But when The PUNCH broke the news on Thursday evening with all the details, the Police image maker in the state called to confirm the death of its officer and blamed the accident on a burst tyre.

Checks at the Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo, revealed that the two other occupants of the vehicle who sustained serious injuries in the accident were still lying unconscious in the hospital, while the doctors were busy battling to save their lives.

The accident, which occurred near Garba Chede in Bali Local Government Area along Jalingo -Takum federal highway, involved a security vehicle attached to the wife of Taraba governor, Mrs. Anna Darius Ishaku, while on their way back to Jalingo from Takum after Christmas and New Year holidays.
