Security operatives in Akwa Ibom state have arrested a notorious thief who tried to rob a student with a gun.

The thief was stripped after he was caught

A notorious thief was beaten mercilessly and stripped after he was caught trying to rob a student inside the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.

An eyewitness said he was caught by University Security Officers after he and two others reportedly dispossessed a student of phones and valuables at gun point in the early hours of today.

While the other two members of the gang escaped with the gun used, the robber (who gave his name as Raymond) was caught after a hot pursuit by Security Officers.

He claimed to be a student of Architecture, a claim which was disproved after thorough interrogation.
