Two men who reportedly flogged a woman to death after accusing her of using witchcraft to kill a 17-year-old girl have been arrested.

An 80-year-old man, Manu Kwacha and his son have been arrested after they reportedly flogged a 90-year-old woman to death after accusing her of killing the a 17-year-old girl using witchcraft.

According to DailyTrust, the duo are among 14 persons paraded by Niger State Police Command at the weekend for offences ranging from armed robbery, rape, culpable homicide and sodomy allegedly committed between October 8 and November 9, 2017.

The breakdown shows that 10 suspects were arrested for armed robbery in different locations across the state, while three others were arrested for culpable homicide.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Abigail Unaeze, said Likita Manu, 40 and his father, Manu Kwacha, 80 were arrested over the murder of 90-year-old Inne Kaiyo of Marke Gada Maje village of Rijau Local Government Area of the state over allegation of witchcraft.

The 90-year-old was said to have been clubbed to death for allegedly inflicting 17-year-old Magajiya Likita with an illness which later killed her, through witchcraft.

SP Onaeze said the culprits confessed to have killed the 90-year-old based on the suspicion and would soon be charged to court

She added that officers and men of the command smashed two armed robbery gangs and arrested eight suspects at two locations within the period. Among the suspects arrested, she said, were Bello Umar, 32; Bala Ahmadu, 35; Isiya Garba, 24 and Isuhu Usman, 20. She said the suspects were rounded up, while in a robbery operation in Ibelu community near Nasko in Magama Local Government Area of the state on October 24.

She also said that Shuaibu Yahaya, 20; Suleiman Ishaku, 21; Abubakar Mohammed, 25 and Ahmed Saidu, 22, were also arrested by men of the command at Sabon Angwa of Maitumbi area of Minna town on November 9, during a robbery operation.

Also, 65 year-old Patrick Kalu of Railway Quarters, Minna was arrested for allegedly luring Victor Inne, 15, from Karimo, in Abuja on the excuse of securing a job for him but repeatedly sodomised him. The suspect was said to have confessed to the crime during interrogation and would soon be charged to court.
