Governor El-Rufai Presents 2018 Draft Budget To Public For Recommendation

Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai, has presented a draft 2018 budget estimate of the state to the public.

Speaking at a Town Hall meeting with stakeholders, El-Rufai called on the people to suggest projects they wanted the government to execute for them, saying the budgets for 2016 and 2017 were raised after citizens recommended projects not captured by the government.

The governor said the town hall meeting was for the government to listen to the people on their yearnings and aspirations and make them participate in governance.

He said the state government has made the draft budget available on the internet for people to study and make contributions.

The presentation was to allow citizens of the make their inputs after which the State Executive Council will approve the final estimate tomorrow.

El-Rufai is expected to present the final draft estimate to the Kaduna State House of Assembly on Thursday for consideration and passage into law.

The draft indicates that the state government proposed N201, 049,213,385.77 billion with capital budget gulping N125, 500, 774,460.66billon and recurrent expenditure at N75, 548, 438, 925.12.billion.
