A group called "Osinbajo Volunteers" has called on the Vice President to contest in the 2019 Presidential election.

Following the clamour by a group for the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to run for election in 2019, aide to Osibanjo has revealed what seems like his plan for the future. A group known as “Osinbajo Volunteers” had started campaigning for Osinbajo to contest as President in 2019 by recruiting volunteers for the project.

However, Osinbajo has distanced himself from activities of the group. The Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Vice President, Laolu Akande, said on his Twitter handle “please disregard this website created by faceless people for mischievous purposes. It has absolutely nothing to do with the vice president.”

It is still not clear if Osinbajo will contest the 2019 Presidential election should President Muhammadu Buhari decide not to seek re-election. However, many are asking Osinbajo to make claim to the position as a result of his performance during the period President Buhari was away for more than 100 days on medical treatment in London.
