Michy Batshuayi has denied the suggestion he laughed at team-mate Alvaro Morata during Chelsea’s Community Shield penalty shootout defeat.

A video posted on social media after the 4-1 spot-kick loss to Arsenal allegedly showed the Belgium international laughing behind Morata after he had missed his spotkick.

Batshuayi insisted that had not been the case, posting on Twitter: “Wow lol some people really believe I laughed at my team-mate and/or us losing? Sorry to disappoint but I wasn’t.

“I’m enjoying every goal for us scored by anyone in the team, that’s the only thing you have to know. Have a blessed day.”

The 23-year-old, well known for his vocal presence on social media, had endured a frustrating afternoon as Arsenal came from behind to send the Community Shield to penalties, Sead Kolasinac heading home a Granit Xhaka free-kick after Victor Moses had given Chelsea to lead early in the first half.

Having led the line at Wembley on Sunday Batshuayi could be in line to start on the opening weekend against Burnley, with Antonio Conte admitting after his side’s Community Shield loss that record signing Alvaro Morata was not yet ready.
