Fulfil Your Electoral Promises - Nigerian Lawyers Beg Buhari
Nigerian lawyers have tasked President Muhammadu Buhari to fulfill his electoral promises to Nigerians who elected him. |

The lawyers spoke on the sidelines of the conference opened by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) on Aug. 21.
The conference has as its theme, “African Business: Penetrating Through Institution Building.”
Mr Jimoh Lasisi (SAN) told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that President Buhari should continue his anti-graft war with renewed vigour.
“The president had health challenges, unfortunately, because we do not have the facilities to treat him, he had to be flown abroad.
“Vice-President Osinbajo did a commendable job running the country in the President’s absence and the President and his Vice should synergise to move the country forward.
“He was elected based on his promise to fight corruption in this country, we have to fight corruption because certain things have not gone well in this country, ” he said.
Mr Yusuf Ali (SAN), who was of the view that the President should focus more on his campaign promises, said: “The President already has a mandate, he made promises during the campaign, if he fulfills all these campaign promises or most of them, we will be okay.”
For Mr George Etomi, former Chairman, NBA Section on Business Law, said: “The APC gave us manifesto and an agenda.
“President Buhari promised infrastructure, social programmes which he should implement.”
Mr Toyin Adenugba, a lawyer with the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) wants Buhari’s government to concentrate more on electricity generation, water supply and the economy.
“Providing solutions to these problems will go very far in affecting the economy positively.
“Nigerians are smart but accommodating and we have come not to expect much from the government but the little we have been complaining about should be tackled by the government,” he said.
On his part, Mr Ademola Adewale, called an overhauling of the nation’s healthcare system, describing it as a fundamental issue in Nigeria.
He said no effort should be spared in ensuring an efficient, functional and world-class healthcare delivery system in the country that would be able to take care of the health challenges of the rich and the poor.
