In order to evade jungle justice by an angry mob, a thief had to jump into a gutter in Festac Town, Lagos, after he and an accomplice were caught stealing motor parts from cars.

The alleged thief after he was brought out from the gutter

Two alleged thieves were caught by local residents after they reportedly stole parts from cars at 1st avenue, Festac Town in Lagos, in the early hours of Wednesday, 2nd of August 2017, near De Heavens and Rumours Night Club.

According to an exclusive report by Festac Online, the robbers were chased down to 21 road where one of the suspects escaped and one was caught, but jumped into the gutter near N Close, 21 Road, Festac Town.

The incident happened at around 6:30am, as a crowd gathered and stones were hurled at the gutter to make him come out.

It was gathered that two youths in the community volunteered to go into the gutter to bring  him out. Passers-by stopped to watch the scene. Jungle Justice was averted as the Nigerian Police Force came into the scene.



After a while the suspect was brought out and handed over to the Police.

An eyewitness said; "THEY WERE TWO,ONE OF THEM ESCAPED. HE FLEW INTO THE DRAINAGE & STAYED THERE FOR OVER 2HRS. THE OWNER OF THE CAR HAD TO PAY THEM TO BRING HIM OUT. THANK GOD THE POLICE CAME ON TIME TO AVERT JUNGLE JUSTICE."
