A Lagos-based man, Michael Arokoyo, who is seeking the dissolution of their 33-year marriage, has approached a Customary Court in Lagos, revealing how lives like bachelor, wash and cook by himself. |

The 53-year-old caterer, Mojirayo Arokoyo, made the appeal in her testimony in the divorce suit filed by her husband, Mr Michael Arokoyo, who is seeking the dissolution of their 33-year marriage.
The husband had filed for divorce on the ground of lack of care from the wife.
The mother of four, however, said that it was the husband who had distanced himself from the family, especially the children.
The housewife said there was a time her husband called their second born to come and see him and since then their son was yet to be found.
“My husband called our son, who was studying medicine at the university to come and see him and up till today, he could not be found.
“It is seven years now that the boy, who is supposed to be 29-year-old this year, disappeared into thin air.
“All efforts made by me to find him proved unsuccessful, please court, help me ask my husband what he did to my son.
“He does not care about the welfare of the children. He does not even know where the children are schooling nor does he pay their school fees. I single-handedly paid the fees,” she said.
The wife said that she satisfied her husband in all ramifications.
She, therefore, urged the court not to grant her husband’s wish for the dissolution of the marriage and that she was still in love with him.
Arokoyo had earlier told the court that his wife, with whom he had four children, was not taking care of him. “I live like a bachelor, I wash my clothes, cook for myself,” the man said.
The 65-year-old petitioner said that his wife had become stubborn and that she used to assault him. “My wife is stubborn, she does not respect me, there was a day she slapped me and I beat her and she fainted,” he said.
The petitioner said that Mojirayo would go out at will and come back at will. “She can leave home and returned after two weeks without letting me know about her whereabout,” he said.
The husband said that things were moving on fine for them until when he was no longer working.
He said that his wife suddenly became hostile to him.
According to him, his wife had turned all the children against him.
He begged the court to terminate the marriage, adding that the love he once had for his wife had faded.
The Court President, Mr Adegboyega Omilola, adjourned the case until Sept. 26 for judgment.
