Garbine Muguruza defect Venus Williams to become champion of  Wimbledon final | 2017, according to her she said she was inspired by her defect to Williams Serena Sister to Venus.

Garbine Muguruza was delighted to beat role-model Venus Williams in Saturday's Wimbledon final, and says the victory was inspired by her defeat to Williams' sister Serena at the same stage two years' ago.

Muguruza beat five-time champion Williams, 37, who is 14 years her senior, 7-5 6-0 to become the first player to beat both Williams sisters in Grand Slam finals, following her victory over Serena in last year's French Open.

The Spaniard, 23, said the victory was made more special for coming against Williams, who she grew up watching, but admitted she still had her straight-sets defeat to Serena in the 2015 final in mind.

"Since I lost the final here, I've wanted to change that. I came here thinking, 'I'm prepared, I feel good'. During the tournament, I was feeling better and better. Every match, I was increasing my level," Muguruza, who was applauded into the interview room by the media, said.

"When I knew I was playing Venus in the final, I was actually looking forward for it. People were surprised when I said the same in French Open, when I had Serena in the final. But that's the final. A final with Serena and Venus...

"For me, it was a challenge to have her [Venus], growing up watching her play. It's something incredible. I was so excited to go out there and win, especially over somebody like a role model.

"In the women's field, the Williams sisters were a big. They were winning a lot. I was watching them, seeing them, they're in Wimbledon, US Open. It's great to go out there and play somebody that you admire."

Muguruza has faced accusations of inconsistency since her breakthrough at Wimbledon two years ago and she is yet to perform at her best in more than one Grand Slam per year.

"It is very hard to find a recipe to feel good fitness-wise, tennistically, mentally. I think in this tournament I put everything together, which is very hard," she admitted.

"Normally, you're tired, I feel pain here, my confidence is not there. So I felt this tournament I managed to put everything together and perform good at every level."

Williams was aiming to become the oldest player to win a Grand Slam in the Open Era, and Muguruza said she is in awe of the seven-time Grand Slam champion.

"I'm just very surprised that she's hungry to keep winning. She has won almost everything. She's not any more young to be looking forward to all these matches. She just shows this toughness," she added, before admitting she would rather dance with Roger Federer than Marin Cilic at the winners' ball.

"I don't know if I will be like this with her age. Probably I won't because she's the only one. She keeps winning, makes two finals Grand Slams this year. She's probably one of the best players today."
