BREAKING NEWS: Konta Beats World Number One To Reach Wimbledon 2017 Semi-final

Johanna Konta beat Romanian second seed Simona Halep in a thrilling match to become Britain's first female Wimbledon semi-finalist since 1978.

Sixth seed Konta, 26, fought back to win 6-7 (2-7) 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 and match Virginia Wade's feat of 39 years ago.

With Wade watching from the royal box, Konta served superbly to win in two hours and 38 minutes and set up a semi-final against Venus Williams.

"It's surreal because of how quickly things change in tennis," said Konta.

"I'm definitely still digesting things. I definitely felt clear on what I was trying to achieve, regardless of if it was going my way. I just stuck to my true self."

Konta is just two victories from matching Wade's 1977 triumph and will take on five-time champion Williams on Thursday for a place in the final.

Halep, 25, would have replaced Germany's Angelique Kerber with victory over Konta, but Czech Karolina Pliskova will instead be the new world number one in the next rankings.
