Justice Y.G. Dakwak handed down the sentence after finding Sule guilty of the crime.
Dakwak said, “Due to evidence before this court presented by the prosecution and your admittance to committing the crime, the court has found you guilty.
“You are hereby sentenced to death by hanging for robbery. You shall be hanged by the neck till you are dead, may God have mercy on your soul,” he ruled.
The convict was first arraigned on March 19, 2014, on one count of robbery.
The prosecutor, Mr G.D. Fwomyon, also the Director of Public Prosecution, told the court that Sule, in the company of two others still at large, committed the offence on Dec. 5, 2013.
Fwomyon said Sule, with two others, were armed with a locally made pistol when they robbed Mrs Zipporah Mang of her Toyota Corolla car, valued at N3m.
He said that on the said date, Sule and others trailed Mang to her home behind WAEC Office, Bukuru, Jos, and robbed her at gunpoint.
The prosecuting counsel said the convict told the police in a confessional statement that he and two others, Abba and Tutu, whom he met in prison sometime in 2010, met on the said date at Anguwan Rukuba to arrange the robbery.
He explained that Sule said Abba, who knew the complainant and her address, guided them to her house, but on reaching there, met her absence.
He added that the gang alighted from a tricycle when they saw the complainant upon her return and pointed a gun at her as they took away her car.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 1(2)(b) of the Robbery and Firearms ACT, CAP R11 of the Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, an offence punishable with death upon conviction.
