In a world of always-connected iPhones and immensely powerful Galaxy S8 smartphones, is there still a place for a tiny handset where you still have to press ACTUAL buttons to dial a number?

The classic name has been brought back to life by Finnish start-up HMD Global. It’s Nokia-branded but they’re the people behind it.

Nokia is busy working on a number of new Android devices that it wants to challenge the dominance of the iPhone, but in the meantime it is keeping fans of the Nokia name satisfied by selling a reworked version of the 17-year-old design classic.

Don’t expect anything modern or flashy. You can get data on this phone but only at 2.5G – a far cry from the speedy 4G your smartphone loves to use.
You don’t have a touchscreen as everything is controlled by a four-way direction pad – and don’t expect an on-screen keyboard, you’re back to typing out the letters by pressing the number 7 four times.

What you do get is a rock solid phone for taking calls on, up to a month of stand-by time and 22 hours of talk time before you have to recharge the phone.
And yes, it has the classic Nokia ringtone and it plays Snake.

Running the Series 30+ operating system means it can run older Java based games and apps – that’s how HMD has installed a colourful version of Snake on the 3310.
You also have Opera’s web browser, which strips out all the videos and flashy layout of the modern web to show you just the text. It’s enough to read Metro’s website and post status updates to Facebook, but don’t expect to stream YouTube just yet.
