London attacker’s final WhatsApp message revealed

London Bridge terrorist Khuram Butt quoted the Quran in his final message before carrying out the deadly attack.

Butt wrote a message on his WhatsApp profile on 10 May that read: “ALLAH says (Quran 94:6) – Indeed, with hardship,comes ease.”

More lines from the Quran were quoted next to his profile picture, which read: “Speak justice, speak kindly, speak politely, speak fairly, speak gently, speak graciously, speak not in vain”, according to The Mirror.

Butt, 27, was named as one of the three men who killed seven people on Saturday night when they ploughed into people at London Bridge before getting out to stab people at random at nearby Borough Market.

A British citizen, Butt was born in Pakistan and lived in Barking, east London, along with Moroccan-Libyan Rachid Redouane, the second terrorist responsible for the attacks.

Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley said Butt was known to the security services, but there was no evidence of “attack planning” by him.


Mr Rowley said: “While formal identification is yet to take place, detectives believe they know the identity of the attackers.

“They believe two of the men are Khuram Shazad Butt and Rachid Redouane, both from Barking, east London.

“All three men were confronted and shot dead by armed officers within eight minutes of the first call.


“Inquiries are ongoing to confirm the identity of their accomplice.”
